OHL U18 Priority Selection
The OHL held its two Priority Selections this past week. The Under-18 Priority Selection took place on June 8th and saw six players from HEO AAA programs selected and one from HEO area Hockey Canada accredited school, Canadian International Hockey Academy.
The OHL U18 Priority Selection was introduced in 2017 with the support of Hockey Canada’s Ontario branches, including Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO). The draft was created to support the growth of U18 AAA hockey and provide additional opportunities for players who develop later in their hockey careers.
The OHL U18 Priority Selection allows teams to select U18 players who were not previously chosen in the OHL Priority Selection and meet league eligibility requirements. Eligible players include U18 AAA players who are not currently on an OHL Member Team Protected List and were registered with an Ontario-based U18 AAA program within HEO, OHF, or HNO during the 2025-26 season.

OHL Priority Selection
The annual OHL Priority Selection returned to an in-person format for the first time since the year 2000, with Slush Puppie Place in Kingston providing the backdrop. The Priority Selection was held over two days, with Round 1 on June 12th before Rounds 2-15 were carried-out on June 13th.
HEO saw a total of twenty four players selected over the weekend. Nineteen of the players spent the 2025-26 season playing on an HEO AAA team, one on an EOJHL (Jr. B) team and four players were selected from Hockey Canada accredited school programs.
