HEO's Jeff Baker Named Hockey Canada 2026 Hal Lewis Award Winner
November 3, 2026

In honour of Hal Lewis, Hockey Canada proudly recognizes the staff person who best exemplifies the commitment to the values and objectives of Hockey Canada, exhibits pride and respect for the organization and its participants and demonstrates team spirit both in the office and in one’s life. Beginning in 2019, two winners are recognized - one from the national office and one from a Hockey Canada Member.
For two decades, Jeff Baker has embodied the core values of Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), becoming a leading voice in the development of hockey in the National Capital Region and beyond.
Whether he is interacting with athletes, volunteers, officials or other organizations, Jeff brings a spirit of fairness and inclusion that sets the tone for those around him. His integrity and ambition are evident in the high standards he sets for himself and for HEO, and he brings genuine pride and enthusiasm—serving as a trusted ambassador for the game and the organization.
Jeff has left his mark far beyond the various roles he has held at the Member since 2006—as technical director, hockey operations manager and senior operations manager. He is the first to step up when support is needed, whether it involves assisting a colleague, guiding a volunteer or helping a family navigate the hockey system.
When challenges arise, Jeff brings a calmness that radiates to those around him. Whether dealing with conflicts, operational issues or sensitive player related matters, he remains composed and constructive. He listens first, gathers facts and works collaboratively to find the best path forward.
That approach has helped Jeff consistently deliver high-quality results. Above all else, he treats everyone with respect and fairness, helping foster a culture built on trust and dignity, and contributing directly to the success and reputation of HEO.
